I took this picture on a rafting trip I did last Friday. It was a perfect day for it. I’ll have to share more pictures later.
Call me a traditionalist. Others of my kind have moved on to more modern types of employment: collection agents, airport security screeners, marketing executives. Some have made a name for themselves commenting on Youtube videos. Not me though. I’m stuck here under this bridge, trying to make an honest living scaring people into giving me tolls.
They never stop nowadays though, roaring past in their cars and trucks at a million miles an hour. My first day on the job, I jumped out and tried to scare one into stopping.
It was a tractor trailer. I was in the hospital for a month. Thank God for the restorative properties of pixie dust.
I still try to keep up appearances. Every now and then I can get some pocket money from a kid on a bike, but even they have credit cards more often than not and I don’t mess around with plastic.
It’s just getting harder, you know?

Haha, this reminded me of when I was very little. My parents always tried to convince me there was a troll under a particular bridge nearby. I didn’t really believe them, but I never crossed it by myself, just in case!

You need to bring a billy goat gruff to cross it, just in case.

You’re lucky Mr Troll, only some kids wielding plastic – wait till you meet the nice old lady who is packing – Bam! Bam! Bam!

Hmm, that’s true. This picture is from Korea, so I hadn’t thought of that. In a lot of places, a poor troll wouldn’t have much chance at all.

It’s all about respect, you know? People just don’t respect the old ways. Guys in tractor-trailers don’t realize they’re supposed to stop for trolls out of basic, common respect. I blame the educational system.;)

It definitely dropped the ball in that area. We always learned about trolls in literature, but never in ethics or social studies class. Something racist about that, it seems.

Cool. By the way, which are your main fiction blogs? Magic thoughts, mycybernovels, and wing of dreams? I want to set them up with email notifications so I don’t miss any stories.

Hmmm…Have you considered trolling toll roads instead? Travelers are already expecting to stop and pay a fee on those; they usually pay in coinage, but it adds up.

I get the feeling this guy isn’t too smart or doesn’t know how it works in the modern world. Of course, even with toll roads, a lot of it is done with sensors these days: EasyPass and the like. Maybe he should at least paint a sign to give people a heads-up. 🙂
