“Check it out what this old man gave me,” Brad said, showing Mark his backpack. “Any books you put in here are weightless. The drawback is you forget how to read.”
“That sounds like that one Rick & Morty episode,” Mark said.
“So?”
“So, do you want to get sued?”
“That’s fiction!”
“So are we!” Mark looked nervously at the edges of the blog post.

David sat back in frustration. This cursed story generator worked great, but the characters kept announcing the plot and breaking the fourth wall. Still, it was worth it to get Friday Fictioneers ideas every week.

Read all the other Friday Fictioneers stories based on this picture.

So that’s how you do it…

Yep, my secrets out at last. It’s all cursed items. 🙂

This is cute, love…the drawback is, you forgot how to read. Imagine if that were true, like forgetting how to use the power mower, or water ski. You’re very good at these. 🙂

Dear David,
This reminds me a little of Stranger than Fiction with Will Ferrell. One of those movies ever author should see. I’m glad for whatever brings you back to Friday Fictioneers. 😉 Very clever.

Rochelle

You know, I just thought of that movie when I was replying to another comment just now but I didn’t think of it when I was writing this. I missed this past week since I could not think of a good story that would fit into 100 words but I’ll see you again here in a few days.

Haha! It’s tough when you’ve got unruly characters 🙂

Excuse me sir, but I believe one of your Thursdays is missing. Too funny. I love a good fourth wall break, cleverly done. 🙂 Especially how you signal you’re going to do it in the title. Made me wonder – and then laugh at the end.

Thanks for your great comment, Anne. I worry a bit about the reception my more bizarre stories will get.

Those darn characters, I hate when they spoil the story. Who do they think they are?
November 9th, 2020 at 7:44 pm
I know, it’s like they think they’re in control or something. We writers think we’re making the story but sometimes, you just gotta go with what the characters want to do.

Your story wind mindbender of the week, David. I feel like I’ve been transported to a hall of mirrors!
November 9th, 2020 at 7:42 pm
Haha, thanks. It’s a bit like Stranger Than Fiction.

Haven’t seen it, and I’m already confused to begin with without any help 🙂
