I climbed up a tower one day and never came down. Now I sit and write depending on my mood and the time of day (I divide most of my stories into Daylight, Dusk, and Midnight, depending on the mood of the story.) I like the quirky and absurd of Douglas Adams and Stephen Leacock; the epic fantasy of C.S. Lewis and Tolkien; the brooding horror of H.P. Lovecraft and William Hope Hodgeson; and many things in between.
Here are some other relevant facts about myself, so you can get to know me better:
– I’m a Christian.
– I used to live and teach English in Korea. Now I’m in transition.
– I’ve written eight novels, although only one is totally finished and ready for publication.
– I grew up in Newfoundland, Canada. That’s right, I’m a Newfie.
– I love studying languages. Currently I’m studying Chinese, although I don’t seem to have enough time to do everything I want.
I am going to try to stick to a blog posting schedule of Monday, Wednesday, Friday, with the Wednesday story being my Friday Fictioneers story. Monday and Friday will be for other stories I write.
If you want to contact me privately, email me at greenwalledtower@gmail.com.

I love the motif! You, as the Tower Keeper. I also like your organization. I look forward to reading your stories. Thanks for the follow : )

I like how you’ve categorised your stories by parts of day. Quite neat (in its literal meaning).
July 23rd, 2012 at 2:28 pm
You had me at Tolkien. Oh, and sitting and writing. Three of my favorite things.

Wow, thank you very much!
September 13th, 2012 at 11:04 pm
I just read a collection of HP Lovecraft stories for the first time recently. It was awesome. And think it took me this long to get to him. I will forever feel shame in my heart.
September 25th, 2012 at 10:21 am
I dare suspect you’re a fan of P. G. Wodehouse? 🙂
September 25th, 2012 at 2:46 pm
Oh yeah, I love his stuff. Very dry, straight-faced absurdity is right up my alley.
October 5th, 2012 at 7:39 pm
i have not read any of your favourite authors!
October 5th, 2012 at 7:44 pm
Not even J.R.R. Tolkien? Lord of the Rings is my favourite novel of all time. I’ve read it a lot. I would recommend any of them if you like fantasy. What are your favourite authors?
October 5th, 2012 at 7:50 pm
i just love the movie but have not had the chance of reading the novel.
mine are the popular ones- doyle, jules verne are hot favourite apart from them isaac asimov, stevenson, wells, stephen king, bram stoker… too many of them. in serious ones maupassant, o henry, maugham, hardy, dickens
October 5th, 2012 at 7:58 pm
I do really love a lot of those too, except I haven’t read Maupassant, Maugham or Hardy at all. Have you read any H.R. Haggard? You’d probably like his stuff if you like Stevenson. It’s very much old style adventure, kind of like Treasure Island.
October 5th, 2012 at 8:12 pm
no i dont think i have read any thing by haggard. maupassant is my THE FAVOURITE i have read his short stories again and again and still they just make me repeat 🙂
maugham’s of human bondage is my favourite english book.
i have read only three novels by hardy – tess of d’arbourville, return of the native and i have forgotten the name of the third but they were enough to make me his fan.
October 5th, 2012 at 9:02 pm
I have Far from the Madding Crowd, by Hardy, but haven’t read it yet. I’ll have to check out Maupassant and Maugham sometime, if you recommend them that highly. 🙂
August 14th, 2014 at 1:21 am
maupassant is maupassant!!!
far from maddening crowd- have not read this one.

Hey David. I am going to host a multi-blogger exercise to create a collaborative fiction story starting May 1st. I hope to have twelve writers (eleven plus myself). Would you be interested? You would only be asked to contribute 750 words on your assigned time period (three days to complete).
Secondly, would you like to play a part in the story about the author being murdered i will continue in the next few weeks of the Friday Fictioneers?
April 23rd, 2013 at 8:43 am
sounds interesting. I’d be up for it.

I’ll add your name to the list. Will be sending out a plan soon.

Thanks for coming by. I’m lucky at the moment to have a job that lets me do a fair bit of writing. I’m sure it won’t be like that forever though. 🙂

May 5th, 2013 at 4:20 am
Are you going to make a book out of your short stories? If you do, I’d probably buy it. “Probably” means I would unless something drastic happened (like personal disaster in my life or you charge $100 or something like that).
May 5th, 2013 at 11:57 am
That would be sneaky: get ironclad guarantees from people to buy your book and then charge $100 for them. 🙂 Actually, I’m concentrating on editing some to send to magazines right now, but that’s a project I’d be interested in doing. Actually, I have an idea of expanding one of my stories into a novella, so that might be something I release as a book.

Well, I finally arrived at your home! You and I had a back and forth about the ants in my house back in Feb and you found me again today. I would have sworn I followed you at the time you found me. Our host site has been messing with the design of certain pages and some of the blogs I followed fell off the grid. Anyway…

Glad you found me again. 🙂 I like some of the changes that WordPress makes, but not so much with some other ones. In any case, it takes time to get used to them.

You’re studying Chinese! Can you give me a few tips? And how was it living in S. Korea (I’m assuming the South 😉 )
November 17th, 2014 at 8:37 pm
South Korea was a wonderful place to live. I could have spent my whole life there but I finally came back to be near family. Life is a lot less stressful there.
I am studying Chinese still when I find the time. I’ll give you any tips I can. I’m much better at reading and writing than speaking. 🙂
November 17th, 2014 at 9:13 pm
I don’t know how high your Chinese is but check out 5 minute chinese on youtube, She is fabulous. Also, why did you start learning?
November 17th, 2014 at 10:27 pm
I just like languages, really. I had a Chinese co-worker in Korea too, so we’d talk together. I’ll probably never do much with it, but it’s good to know. How about you? Do you use it in your new job at all?
November 17th, 2014 at 11:24 pm
Well, I haven’t started yet. And I doubt it, I will be working with college kids lol. My goal for Chinese is just to know the basics and be able to read a bit and write. It’s cool to know it and you never know who you will meet.
November 17th, 2014 at 8:30 pm
Also, do you have a Twitter?
